THIS AIRPLANE WAS BEING FLOWN BY THE NEW OWNER AND A CFI, WHO WAS TO CHECK THE NEW OWNER OUT IN THE AIRPLANE.
THAT DIDN’T WORK OUT SO WELL.
DUE
TO CONFUSION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES, UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE AIRCRAFT BY
BOTH PARTIES, OR SIMPLY BAD LUCK, THE AIRPLANE WAS LANDED WITHOUT GEAR
EXTENDED.
NO PROBLEM WITH THE GEAR, WHICH POWERED OUT PERFECTLY ONCE THE AIRPLANE WAS RAISED ON THE RUNWAY.
SO THE DAMAGE IS AS YOU WOULD GUESS:
BOTH PROPS HIT THEIR TIPS.
BELLY SKIN AND STRINGERS ARE SCUFFED AND TORN DOWN THE CENTER OF THE FUSELAGE, FROM BEHIND THE NOSEGEAR TO MID BELLY.
A SLIGHT SCUFF TO ONE COWL FLAP.
ONE
OF THE AFT MAIN GEAR DOORS HAS SOME SCRAPING (NOT DESTROYED) AS IT
COMES TO ALMOST THE CENTER OF THE BELLY. NONE OF THE DAMAGE IS ANYWHERE
OTHER THAN MID BELLY!
NO DAMAGE TO EITHER COWLING, BOTH FIREWALLS ARE UNDAMAGED AS ARE THE ENGINE MOUNTING SURFACES.
NO DAMAGE TO THE WINGS OR CONTROL SURFACES, TAILBOOMS, TAIL FEATHERS, OR THE GEAR.
INSIDE, ALL ENGINE AND FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS ARE INCLUDED, BUT THE RADIO PANEL UNITS AND INDICATORS ARE NOT.
TRAYS ONLY ARE INCLUDED AND WIRED FOR:
GARMIN AUDIO PANEL WITH INTERCOM
MX-385 NAV-COM. THE GLIDESLOPE INDICATOR IS STILL INSTALLED, WIRED AND INCLUDED.
GARMIN 327 MODE “C” TRANSPONDER. THE MODE “C” ENCODER IS STILL INSTALLED, WIRED AND INCLUDED.
THE BFGOODRICH WX-900 STORMSCOPE SYSTEM IS STILL INSTALLED AND WIRED AND IS INCLUDED (SHOWN MOUNTED IN THE DASH.
THE ENGINES ON THIS AIRPLANE, IO-360-C, ARE 1,400 HOUR BETWEEN RECCOMMENDED TBO.
THE REAR ENGINE HAS 1,125 SMOH, BUT ONLY 549 SINCE A TOP OVERHAUL TO ALL 6 CYLINDERS.
THE FRONT ENGINE HAS ONLY 549 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL.
ALTHOUGH
IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO INSPECT THESE ENGINES AFTER A PROP STRIKE,
CONTINENTAL ENGINES ONLY HAVE A SERVICE BULLITEN ABOUT DISASSEMBLING THE
ENGINE FOR THIS INSPECTION, UNLIKE THE LYCOMING ENGINES, WHICH HAVE A
MANDATORY A.D. TO DO THE TEARDOWN.
SO THE ENGINES SHOULD BE INSPECTED, BUT THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO TEAR DOWN!
PROPS ARE 250 SMOH FRONT AND 500 SMOH REAR, BUT BOTH BLADES ON EACH ARE DAMAGED AT THE TIPS.
THIS
AIRPLANE HAS JUST BEEN PLACED ON A TIEDOWN (ALWAYS HANGERED UP TILL
NOW) AT THE LITCHFIELD, ILLINOIS AIRPORT, JUST NORTHEAST OF ST. LOUIS.
WE
WILL PAY THE TIEDOWN FEES FOR UP TO 30 DAYS FROM THE END OF THE AUCTION

If you are looking for your first twin or a new flight school aircraft this is the project for you! This is a 1975 Piper Seneca II Project that is up for sale. There is a brand new Garmin panel in this Seneca which would make for a perfect trainer.
